Trinidad Sanchez, Jr.
June 15, 1943 - July 30, 2006
On Tuesday, July 18, 2006, Trinidad suffered a massive
stroke on the left side of his brain and a minor stroke on
the right side of his brain.
Initially, doctors said brain damage was permanent, and
chances of recovery were small. However, on Sunday,
July 23, 2006, Trinidad was moved out of the Intensive
Care Unit and moved to the Neurology Center at the
Methodist Hospital, Medical Center in San Antonio. He
showed some progress, but was not out of the danger
zone yet. He woke up on Friday, July 21, 2006, but slept
most of the time since then. On Sunday, July 30, 2006, Trinidad began to run a fever. His
blood sugar and blood pressure were off. A little after 4:00 pm he began to have labored
breathing, and then the breathing stopped all together.
Like most Americans, Trinidad did not have health insurance. Along with the shock and
devastation that comes from losing a loved one, comes the piles of bills and red tape. It is an
unexcusable fact, but one that must be dealt with.
Trinidad is not a MetroMania Press™ Author, but in an effort to show our appreciation for
this wonderful poetic master, and to support his family, MetroMania Press™ has set up
these memorial pages for Trinidad. You can find additional information on Trinidad, as well as
read a selection of his poems on these pages.
